History
Line: Guapimirim
Local Attractions: Verde Spring and Preguiça Spring
The Guapimirim station on the Teresópolis Railway was inaugurated on lands that the Indians once called “Aguapeí-Mirim”, which means “small spring”,. The station, over the years, received other labels, the last one, Alcindo Guanabara station, was in honor of Guapimirim's son, journalist, politician and founding member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. An account from 1929 said that Alcindo, who intended to arrive in Teresópolis, started his journey at the Barão de Mauá Station, on the old wooden trains pulled by steam engines, to Magé, from where he was going to Guapimirim.
