History
Line: Saracuruna
Local Attractions: Cinco Bocas Square and Cacique de Ramos
Of the pioneer families in Olaria, The Regos and the Nunes stood out. In 1820, Francisco José Pereira Rego bought the land that extended from Caminho da Matriz (Itararé) to Morro da Penha, where he built numerous kilns for the manufacture of bricks and other ceramic objects, nicknaming the neighborhood the “Pottery Row”.
With the opening of the station, and transportation of bricks by train, the neighborhood was soon to become urbanized.
One interesting fact is that the Olaria station has also been called Pedro Ernesto Station, in recognition of doctor and politician Pedro Ernesto do Rego Baptista.
