Line: Deodoro e Santa Cruz
Riachuelo is the name of one of the tributaries of the Paraguay River, where the “Naval Battle of Riachuelo” was fought and won by the Brazilian Navy on June 11, 1865 during the Paraguay War,.
In honor of this battle, the station was named “Riachuelo do Rio” (at that time there was already a station called Riachuelo in the south of the country).
