History
Line: Deodoro e Santa Cruz
Historians tell us that the railway was being built through neighborhoods with not so much as a hiccup until a railway worker 's pick found rocky terrain near a quarry. And so, the place soon received the name "Cascadura" “Hard Crust” or “Hard Shell”.
There are two other versions for the name “Cascadura”. English illustrator Maria Graham, traveling to Brazil in 1824, mentioned a place, near the Campinho neighborhood, as "Casca D’Ouro" "The Golden Crust".
Others believe that the name came from a Portuguese trader who, for his treatment, was known in that region as such, like a ‘hard nut’.
