History
Line: Belford Roxo
The station was opened and bears the same name as the river that runs through the neighborhood, the Munguengue – nowadays the Sapopemba River.
In 1920, the station was renamed to honor the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, from 1889 to 1900, Honório José da Cunha Gurgel do Amaral.
