History
Line: Santa Cruz
The Paciência station was inaugurated on the lands of an important sugar cane plantation, at a time when there was no other stop between the Campo Grande and Santa Cruz stations. The name “Paciência” was chosen because before the advent of the railway, the royal family traveled from Quinta da Boavista, in São Cristóvão, to their country house, in Santa Cruz, along a route that had several points for the exchange of tired horses. The story goes that on one of these trips, Emperor D. Pedro I, irritated by the delay, was calmed by a server with the phrase: "Patience, Emperor, patience ...".
