History
Line: Deodoro e Santa Cruz
In 1914, the region of the current Bento Ribeiro neighborhood, already boasted a substantion number of residents, mainly because of the immigrants who lived there (largely Italians and Portuguese). However, those who needed to use the train had to use either Rio das Pedras (currently Oswaldo Cruz station) or Marechal Hermes stations.
To solve this problem, residents petitioned the Mayor of the City of Rio de Janeiro directly, Army General Bento Manuel Ribeiro Carneiro Monteiro. The opening was attended by the then President of the Republic, Marechal (Marshal) Hermes da Fonseca, and the honored mayor, Bento Ribeiro.
Among famous ex-residents of the neighborhood are Xuxa Meneghel and Ronaldo The Phenomenon.
