History
Line: Japeri
The Vila Nova station shares the name of the neighborhood that is on the right side of the railway line. Interestingly, the left side is known as “Papavento” and, for a long time, the local population called railway station sometimes “Vila Nova” sometimes “Papavento”, until the Rede Ferroviária Federal changed its name to “President Juscelino Station”, in honor of the President of the Republic Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira, who governed Brazil from 1956 until the year the station opened in 1961.
