History
Line: Santa Cruz
Historians say that this district was known as “Lameirão’s Plantation”, owned by Manuel Suzano, which grew sugar cane and orange.
It was here on this plantation that the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição do Lameirão was built, which was the most important religious temple in the region in around 1750. Due to its importance, the chapel was authorized to keep the Holy Sacrament. The region then came to be known as "Santíssimo".
Over the years, the old Lameirão Plantation was split up, one of whose parts was Coqueiro Farm. With the arrival of the railway, the “Coqueiro Station” was opened in order to shorten the 10-km distance between the already existant Bangu and Campo Grande stations.
