Line: Santa Cruz
The name of the station was chosen to honor the President of the Republic, Tancredo Neves who was elected in 1985, but who never took office because he died on the same day as his inauguration, on April 21, 1985, at the age of 75, causing great national outcry. After his death, his vice-president, José Sarney, took over the role of President of Brazil.
