History

Line: Belford Roxo
The station's name pays tribute to Tomás José Coelho de Almeida, Councilman, Representative, Senator, Director of Banco do Brasil, Minister of War, Councilor of the Empire of Brazil and Minister of Public Works. Tomás gave great incentive to the Brazilian railway system, expanding lines in Bahia, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul.
In addition, he was the creator of the Imperial Military College, the current Military College of Rio de Janeiro, designed by Duque de Caxias and built on the former property of Barão de Mesquita, in Tijuca, where it still works today.
